These are my thoughts and reflections as I learn and grow in my faith.
I recommitted to Christ September 2016 and it has been one heck of a ride since then.
I was reading Through the Eyes of a Lion by Levi Lusko when I got to a part in the book where he was describing an epic fight scene….from the Bible.
I thought, “No way, that can’t be in the Bible.”
Looked it up and sure enough, there it was.
Curious to see what other stories there were in the bible and also because even the most “basic” stories like the Noah’s Ark and Daniel and the Lion’s Den were nothing but a distant memory, I decided to read the whole Bible.
I’m going at two different paces at the moment.
I want to do my best to reflect or learn something from each chapter of the Bible for this blog….we’ll see what happens when I get to all the genealogy stuff haha
But I’m also reading two chapters a day that I started from January. Currently in Judges.
Goal is to blog daily, one chapter a day, but life happens and I’m not perfect. But that’s how often I am aiming to post. It might change to going over a chunk of the bible at a time but we’ll see what happens.
Reflections will be from my own insight, something that I can relate to, or maybe just some “head knowledge” gained from reading the notes from my study bible or a commentary that I read along side with my Bible.
I might mix it up with going into music and how it has moved me or the thoughts that has come into my heart and mind since I’m a big fan of worship songs.
But hopefully, by sharing my readings, we can all learn and grow together 🙂
Just a side note, I’m just your average human being just wanting to grow closer to God by understanding His words. By no means am I an expert! haha
So to kick off, Genesis Chapter One
After reading it straight through and just going over what I read, Genesis 1:28 popped out at me. This is what I got out of it.
“And God blessed them.”
That’s the FIRST thing he did.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it…” (His blessing!)
It just amazed me how his love was, is, and always be at the forefront of things.
He created us with blessings ready to be given to us with the intention to bless us.
He created everything first to be given to us as a blessing and not the other way around.
He also gave us purpose.
We didn’t have to sit around and wait for God to create light, the sky, the sea and land, vegetation and animals.
Everything was already prepared for us before we came into existence.
In short, we were intentionally made to be loved and blessed and had a purpose.
The next thing that I gained was after reading the Believer’s Bible Commentary.
It notes on the first verse of the Bible.
In the beginning, God…
It notes that these words are the foundation for faith.
Without faith, it would be hard to believe the rest of the Bible.
And can we just say, whatever God says, it came into being?
This happens throughout the Bible, in all blessings, consequences, and redemption, whatever he says, it is done.
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
“…But you have not obeyed my voice. What is this you have done? So now I say, “I will not drive them out before you, but they shall become thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you.”
“Then the people of Israel cried out to the Lord, and the Lord raised up for them a deliverer…”
What an amazing and beautiful reminder it is that God created us to bless us.
And that his love is so great that he is always redeeming us no matter how often we turn away from him.
We can keep good faith that he has nothing but good to be given to us.
His promises are kept.
We are created intentionally.
And we are created to be loved and blessed by Him.
What a wonderful God we serve.
